William Rose (1856-1929) of Rose Brothers (Gainsborough) and Northern Manufacturing Co

1856 December. Born at Gainsborough the son of Henry Rose and his wife Alice Youle Lightley

He became a retail tobacconist in Gainsborough[1]

1881 Invented a machine for wrapping tobacco automatically, which led to the formation of the firm that became Rose Brothers (Gainsborough).

With his wife Gertrude Rose (age 27 born Gainsborough) and their children Alice M. Rose (age 4 born Gainsborough) and Walter G. Rose (age 1 born Gainsborough). Two servants.[2]
