1901 Died. 'The death is reported from Newport (Mon.) of Mr William Mark Mordey, father of Ald. Mark Mordey J.P., head of the well-known firm of Mordey, Carney, and Co., shipbuilders, engineers, &c, of Newport, Cardiff, Barry, Port Talbot, Swansea, and Southampton. The late Mr Mordey, who was 84 years age, was a native of Sunderland, which town he left half a century ago. His sons have been strong supporters of temperance and Methodism Newport for many years.'[1]
