WILLIAM HOWARD BUSWELL had been engineer to the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board, New Zealand, since its inception in 1926. Prior to this appointment he was for fourteen years engineer and manager of the Borough Council electric light, power, and traction undertaking at Gisborne.
Mr. Buswell was born at Wellingborough, England, in 1879, but he received his early education, technical training, and his apprenticeship in various parts of New Zealand.
In 1903 he was appointed electrical engineer to the Patea Borough Council hydro-electric lighting undertaking. In the following year he became power inspector in the tramways department of the Wellington City Council.
He remained with the Corporation until 1912, when he took up his appointment at Gisborne.
He had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1916, and his death occurred at Gisborne on 8th May 1933.
