1863 Born son of John William Watson, of 65, Eccleston Square, London and Margaret Godman, daughter of Patrick Persse Fitzpatrick (and hence grand-nephew of William Armstrong, founder of the Armstrong Whitworth company).
1882 Admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge.
1885 Admitted at Lincoln's Inn
1889 Assumed, by Royal Licence the additional surname and arms of Armstrong.
1889 Married Winifreda Jane Adye
Director of the Elswick works and of the North Eastern Railway Co.
Of Cragside, Rothbury, Northumberland.
1903 Created Baron Armstrong (of the second creation)
By 1939 he was Chairman Thermal Syndicate; Dir., Newcastle and Gateshead Water Co.; local Dir., North British and Mercantile Insurance Co.; Past Pres. N.E.C.
