1895 Apprenticed to the Manchester Ship Canal Co at Manchester Docks under W. H. Dawson, chief draughtsman.

1913 Assistant mechanical engineer to the Manchester Ship Canal Co

1920 Became a member of the Inst of Mech Engineers[1]

1926 Succeeded Mr William Fox as chief mechanical engineer on Mr Fox's retirements.[2]

1940 Retired from the Manchester Ship Canal Co

1941 Resigned from I Mech E
