1911 The American Foundry Equipment Company was established.

1932 American Foundry Equipment changed its name to The Wheelabrator Corporation.

c.1966 Acquired Tilghman's, a long standing collaborator

By 1968 The company was operating as Wheelabrator-Frye Inc.

1968 Acquired Rust International.

1978 acquired M. W. Kellogg which doubled its Engineering division's revenues and quadrupled its earnings.

1984 The Signal Companies Inc. acquired Wheelabrator.

1985 The Signal Companies merged with the Allied Corporation - Wheelabrator and its Kellogg Rust subsidiaries were some of the 35 non-core units identified that would be spun off.

Wheelabrator took back its name, and the 35 businesses were combined under a holding company, The Henley Group, which was divested as a new conglomerate.

1990 Wheelabrator was acquired by Waste Management Inc.

2001 Wheelabrator was a major converter of municipal solid waste into energy.
