Whalley Viaduct
in Whalley, near Clitheroe.
The longest viaduct in Lancashire, it is unusual for the area in being built of brick.
Opened in 1850 for the Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe and West Yorkshire Railway.
48 round arches on battered piers. Where Ridding Lane passes through, close to the north-west gateway of Whalley Abbey the opening has concentric brick arches and moulded stone imposts. To each side is an arch filled with brickwork with a blind lancet recess.
