1871 Shortly after a visit to Europe, George Westinghouse set up the Europe Brake Company[2].

1897 Introduced Westinghouse air brake for express trains

1900 Combined tramcar braking and heating apparatus, Newell's patent. The apparatus includes a double-power brake consisting of two distinct brakes for electrically-operated tramcars and an electric heating system deriving its energy otherwise wasted.
