1866 New West Pier at Brighton was opened with Great Ceremony. Brief account on p.277 of The Engineer 1866/10/12. Designed by Eugenius Birch. 1115 ft long. Screw piles.

It was closed in 1975, caught fire several times, and is now completely derelict.
