Subsequent positions with Union Steam Ship Co and Monarch Line.

For 1 year was manager in the repairing factory of Henry Fletcher, Son and Fearnall at Tilbury

1888 Started work for himself as consulting engineer

1890 Member of I Mech E

1896 of West India House, Leadenhall Street, London, E.C.

1901 Walter Phillips 47, consulting engineer, working on own account, lived in Lewisham with his family[2]

1911 Walter Phillips 57, retired marine engineer, lived in Lee, S.E. London with Elizabeth Phillips 59, Dora K Phillips 34, A A May Phillips 26[3]
