Walter Hadley Prestage was born in 1900 and was apprenticed to Wolseley Motors, Ltd.

He received his theoretical training at Birmingham Technical School.

After a period of war service he became Assistant to the Manager of the Austin Manchester Depot, and subsequently Technical Representative of Crossley, Ltd.

In 1924 he joined Prestage, Ltd., as Service Engineer and remained there until 1939 (when he was General Manager and Director).

He served as Lieut.-Colonel in the present war and was killed in the course of his duty on 23rd May, 1940.

He was elected a Graduate in 1920 and transferred to Associate Member in 1924.
