From 1889, Emden entered a partnership with Charles J. Phipps building the Tivoli, Garrick Theatre and Duke of York's

c.1908 Bought a controlling interest in A. L. Thomas and Sons

1913 Died. 'We regret to announce that Mr. Walter Emden, who was three times Mayor of Dover, died in London on Wednesday after an operation. He was in his 67th year. Mr. Emden wasp famous theatre architect, and designed several of the principal London theatres.'[1]
