1891 ' ... On Friday week the remains of Mr. James Mellor, of Hough Hole, Rainow, near Macclesfield, who died on the previous Monday, at the age of 94, were interred in the garden attached to his residence, .... Deceased was born at Blue Boar Farm, Jin Clough, on 29th December, 1796. In his early days he was engaged in the cotton trade, his father having built and owned Rainow Cotton Mill, now locally known as " The White Shop," occupied by Messrs. William Mellor and Co., machinists. ...'[2]
