Formed by Jedediah Strutt (d.1797)
1771 Formed a partnership with Richard Arkwright and Samuel Need. Upon the dissolution of the partnership Jedediah became the proprietor of the mills at Belper and Milford.[1]
1848 Partnership change. '...the Copartnership heretofore subsisting between as the undersigned, Edward Strutt, Jedediah Strutt, Anthony Radford Strutt, and John Strutt, as Cotton Manufacturers, Bleachers, and Dyers, at Belper, Milford, and Derby, in the county of Derby, under the style or firm of William, George, and Joseph Strutt, was this day dissolved, as to the said Anthony Radford Strutt and John Strutt, by mutual-consent; and that the said trade or business will in future be carried on by the said Edward Strutt and Jedediah Strutt, in copartnership with the undersigned George Henry Strutt and Alfred William Holmes, under the same style or firm of William, George, and Joseph Strutt....'[2]
1897 Principals are George Herbert Strutt and John Hunter.[3]
1897 Acquired by the English Sewing Cotton Co.[4]
