W. Boaz and Sons

From Graces Guide

1883 Advert: 'W. BOAZ, Patent Boiler Tube Stopper Engineering Works, 29 West India Dock Road, LIMEHOUSE. LONDON, E. The great importance of this Patent Tube Stopper will be readily seen by all practical men connected with Steam Shipping, as a defective tube can be immediately stopped without reducing the pressure of steam ; it also dispenses with the old method of drawing the fires - in many cases the vessel having to put into port to repair the tubes by passing the apparatus through the leaky tube, then screw the Gun Metal Nut, which expands the India Rubber Washers, thereby making the tube perfectly tight at each end — a shield being provided to prevent the person from being scalded while applying the apparatus — a leaky tube is thereby thoroughly and completely stopped in two minutes.'
