1932 London District Freight Superintendent, Southern Railway.--Mr. Brown entered the service of the South Eastern Railway in 1897 at the Bricklayer's Arms. He was appointed Station Superintendent in 1912. In 1917 he was attached to the Royal Engineers, taking charge of staff specialising on economic use of railway wagons in France. In 1919 he was appointed Assistant to the London District Goods Superintendent. In 1923 he was appointed Eastern Divisional Commercial Manager, Southern Railway. His present appointment dates from March 31st, 1930.
