Powered by water from the River Marne, the installation comprised one 100 HP Fourneyron-type water turbine driving two horizontal pumps via bevel gears, delivering water to the Bois de Vincennes; two similar sets of machinery delivering water to the Paris reservoirs; four large cast iron waterwheels on the Girard system, 11.6m diameter, 120 HP maximum, running at 6 - 9 rpm and driving horizontal pumps to deliver water to the Paris reservoirs.
