1953 First stage of the 360MW power station was commissioned

B power station

1957 Building work commenced.

Generating plant consisted of three English Electric 120 MW hydrogen cooled turbo-alternators.

Babcock and Wilcox supplied three 860,000 lb/hour boilers operating at 110 bar and 543°C.

1963 The power station was officially opened.
