1958 Acquired Allders, of Croydon; and Farnons, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.[5]
1968 Prevented by the Monopolies Commission from acquiring Montague Burton[7]
1970 Acquired Swears and Wells.[8]
1983 Acquired by Hanson Trust.[9]
