1963 Celdis Ltd was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Acquired Weir Electronics.
1964 Founded Fibre Resin Development, making low cost plastic mouldings for televisions, and car body components.
1966 Set up W. E. L. Components for distribution of components
1967 Formed Data Recognition Ltd
1967 S. D. S. (Portsmouth), McAlley Associates and Telsec Instruments joined the group
By 1968 there were 10 companies in the group
1968 Peter Curry is MD.[2]

1989 Acquired Veeco Instruments of USA; Nemic-Lambda, a Japanese company, was a subsidiary[3].
