Union Switch and Signal Co
1881 George Westinghouse set up Union Switch and Signal, consolidating the assets of the Union Electric Signal Company and the Interlocking Switch and Signal Company.
Developed and commercialized George Westinghouse's ideas for railway signalling using compressed air and electricity. The Electric Light Department developed electrical concepts for Westinghouse.
1885 Produced Stanley-Thompson lamps
1890 Brought out a new design of its buffer design called the Westinghouse double-acting friction buffer[1]
1917 Became a subsidiary of the Westinghouse Air Brake Co
