1917 Umeco was first registered as University Motor and Engineering Co

For many years the Group traded as a motor vehicle distributor in the south of England, before acquiring various businesses involved in the electrical and marine industries.

1983 Umeco acquired Fluid Transfer, a manufacturer of aircraft refuelling equipment.

1987 Acquired of Pattonair, a specialist distributor of components to the aerospace sector.

1989 Umeco was listed on the Unlisted Securities Market

1994 Listed on the London Stock Exchange

1999 Acquired Aerovac

2000 Acquired Richmond.

2004 Acquired A. C. G., a leading supplier of advanced composite materials to the motor sport, automotive and aerospace and defence sectors with manufacturing operations in the UK and the US.

2007 Acquired J. D. Lincoln. Based at two sites in California, J. D Lincoln formulates and manufactures a range of pre-preg materials primarily used by aerospace tier 2 suppliers for the manufacture of composite interior structures of commercial aircraft.

2008 Acquired IPM, based in Northern Italy, is a leading manufacturer of vacuum bagging films for the composites industry. Aerovac and Richmond are major customers for IPM, who onward supply to the rapidly growing wind energy market.
