1988 A new company called the UK Shoe Group, is to be formed by the selling off of Ward Whites Footwear and Safety Division. The deal means Ward White has finally severed its ...[1]. The footwear activities were based in Bristol and the English Midlands; the business made Tuf shoes for men, protective footwear and formal shoes, as well as high grade comfort shoes for women, and supplies[2]

1988 "The new UK Shoe Group is recognising the vital importance of maintaining a reservoir of footwear skills to preserve the high standing of the county’s footwear industry. Earlier this month five general shoemaking trainees joined the group’s county operation ..."[3]

1989 John White Footwear was part of the group

1990 UK Shoe Group Ltd sold the John White Footwear business — based in Rushden and Corby.[4]

1990 Betts and Broughton, a Division of UK Shoe Group Limited, is one of the most successful safety footwear companies operating in an extremely competitive field.[5]

1991 The name of UK Safety Group Ltd was changed to UK Shoe Group Ltd[6]
