Turbo Power Systems is a company that designs and manufactures high performance electric motors and generators, drives and power electronics.

Structured into two divisions - electrical machines and power electronics - with design and manufacturing plants based near Heathrow, London and Gateshead, north east England respectively.

1993 Colin Besant established The Turbo Genset Company (TGC) to transform the achievements of Imperial College into a commercial reality.

2000 Listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2000 and on the Toronto Stock Exchange August 2000.

In July 2001, Turbo Genset acquired the Gateshead based company Intelligent Power Systems (I-Power, which dates from 1976) to provide the power electronics for the company’s generator systems as well as expanding its power electronics technology into the rail industry.

In July 2006 Turbo Genset and I-Power were renamed Turbo Power Systems in order to show the new direction of the company in the turbo machinery and power electronics markets.
