1954 Company formed

At one time owned by Fortes Ltd

Then became independent.

1967 Treat (Holdings) Ltd was incorporated to acquire:

  • Treat Products Ltd
  • Hulley's Dairy Ltd

1969 Treat Investments Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Unilever, acquired 80 per cent of the capital of Treat Holdings. Subsequently increased the holding to 85 per cent, the balance being held by the Treats' management. But there was no direct shareholding by Wall's in Treats. Treats main products were ice lollies.

1973 Treat Holdings acquired Taylors (Bilston) Ltd of Willenhall.

c.1992 Treats Ice Cream Ltd was formed as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Treats Group Ltd

1997 Treats Ice Cream Ltd was renamed Treats Frozen Confectionery Ltd

1998 Treats Frozen Confectionery Ltd acquired Richmond Ice Cream Co Ltd; the name was changed to Richmond Frozen Confectionery Ltd. The company retained the Treats listing on the London Stock Exchange and became Richmond Foods plc.
