Torday and Carlisle

From Graces Guide

1981 Torday Ltd acquired the whole of the share capital of Lockwood and Carlisle Ltd. Name changed to Torday and Carlisle PLC

2000 Merged with Meristem plc.

2001 The original Torday and Carlisle diesel marine engine business, DMI, was sold.

2002 Sold CSM (Colin Stewart Minchem) Ltd, processed mineral products, which had been acquired with Meristem.

Of the Meristem subsidiaries, the new group retained:[1]

  • Solvitol of Birtley, Co. Durham, specialist surface coatings
  • E. Wood of Northallerton, specialist chemicals for household, industrial and automotive uses.
  • 50 percent interest in Lincoln Diesels.
