Tone Bridge Foundry
Tone Bridge Foundry, Taunton, Somerset.
1822 Listed as Sandsbury and Savery, Tone Bridge. Iron and Brass Founders.[1]
1855 Change of ownership. 'TONE BRIDGE FOUNDRY. NOTICE is hereby given, that all the trade debts due to the late Mr. John Sainsbury, of Taunton, Ironfounder, deceased, must paid to Mr. CORNELIUS ASH LOVELL, now residing at the Foundry, Tone Bridge, Taunton; whose receipt will be a sufficient discharge for the same; and all persons having any claim upon the said Estate are requested to send the particulars thereof to the said Mr. Cornelius Ash Lovell, who will discharge the same if found correct. CHARLES GOODLAND, JAMES FOURACRE, Executors of the said John Sainsbury. CORNELIUS ASH LOVELL, having succeeded to the Business lately carried on by his Father-in-law, Mr. John Sainsbury, hopes strict and punctual attention to merit a continuance of those favours he so liberally enjoyed.'[2]
1866 July. Sale. Dwelling house and foundry known as the Tone Bridge Foundry. Established in 1796 and where for many years Mr. Sainsbury carried on successfully as an Ironfounder.[3]
1866 August. Sale by R. Lane who has recently purchased the Tone Bridge Foundry, of Agricultural Implements, machines etc. (Long list).[4]
1867 Mention of John Lane of the Tone Bridge Foundry.
1872 To Let. Tone Bridge Foundry established 1796. Including plant, stock and utensils-in-trade.[5]
Became C. Allen and Son
1872 Mention of Wotton and Co, Tone Bridge Foundry.[6]
