c1852 Born in Islington the son of George Culmer, a Journeyman Brush Maker, and his wife Lydia

1874 Patent. Improvements in the manufacture of varnish, paint and similar brushes.[1]

1911 Living at Ashingdon Hall, Ashingdon, Rochford, Essex: Thomas William Culmer (age 59 born Islington), Wholesale Artists Brush Manufacturer - Employer. With his wife Eliza Culmer (age 54 born Islington) and their five children; Mary Culmer (age 30 born Islington); Alban Culmer (age 28 born Islington), Artist's Brush Maker; Michael Culmer (age 26 born Islington), Artist's Brush Maker; Arthur Culmer (age 20 born Hornsey), Artist's Brush Maker; Grace Culmer (age 16 born Hornsey). Married 31 years with seven children of whom six are living.[2]

1933 April 12th. Died. Of 8 Nelson Place, Lymington, Hants. Probate to his widow Eliza robertson Grinder Culmer.
