1900 Obituary

IT is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Mr. THOMAS PARSONS, of the firm of THOS. PARSONS & SONS, Varnish Manufacturers, Long Acre and Mitcham, which took place at his residence, The Laurels, Wimbledon, on the 1st November, after a business career of twenty-five years.

The deceased had been in excellent health until within a few days of his death, when he was seized with an attack of Pneumonia, to which he succumbed after a few days illness.

The business, in which he was one of three partners, is an old established one and has passed from father to son in direct line for three generations. It was established in 1802, nearly a century ago, Mr. GEORGE PARSONS, the grandfather of the present proprietors, was actively engaged in this business for some forty years and left it to his son, Mr. THOMAS PARSONS, their father, who again carried it on for a like period, until his death on the 18th October, 1884.

He was succeeded in the business by his three sons, Mr. THOMAS, Mr. GEORGE and Mr. WILLIAM PARSONS, who have carried it on from that time. Businesses which have been handed down from father to son for three generations are not plentiful, indeed, we might add, they are very few and we are pleased to be able to say that there will be no change whatever in the management.

The business, which has been so successfully conducted by the three partners for the last sixteen years, will be carried on by Mr. GEORGE and Mr. WILLIAM PARSONS, the two surviving sons, who have been actively engaged in it for the past twenty years .
