THOMAS JOHN GEE was a native of Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, where he was born in 1874 and educated until 1885.
After two years at Caterham College he was apprenticed to Messrs. Ruston, Proctor and Co. of Lincoln, and spent twelve years in their shops and on outdoor erecting and testing at some and abroad.
In 1899 he joined Messrs. Agar, Cross and Co. as superintending engineer at Buenos Aires in charge of the erection and repairs of machinery imported by the firm. He remained in the Argentine for fourteen years, and during this time took out a number of patents for labour saving improvements in agricultural machinery to suit the Argentine market.
He returned to England, and during the War was Labour Manager at the Munition Works of The Austin Co. of Birmingham.
After a year in Spain he became London Manager of the Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co., which post he held until his death at Chatteris on 18th October 1926.
He continued to patent improvements in agricultural machinery until his health failed.
Mr. Gee became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1903 and a Member in 1908.
