1803 Apprenticed to the master printer Joseph Antoine Chevalier at St Peter Port in Guernsey.
c1808 Joined Tom Greenslade of Bishop's Nympton in Devon
1814 March 21st. Married Jane Warren (1789–1858) of Bishop's Nympton.
1815 Birth of son Warren de la Rue (1815–1889) at St Peter Port.
Set up business in Finsbury Square manufacturing straw hats
Birth of son William Frederick
Later in business with Samuel Cornish and William Frederick Rock, calling themselves ‘Cardmakers, Hot Pressers and Enamellers’.
1835 The business moved to 110 Bunhill Row in the City, with the family living next door at number 108
1851 Living at 84 Westbourne Terrace, Paddington (age 58 born Guernsey), Manufacturer. With his wife Jane (age 59 born Bishop's Nympton, Devon). Also his daughter Mary (age 21 born Finsbury) and her husband John Williams. Plus five servant. [1]
1858 His wife, Jane, died; some months later he married a young Swedish woman, Alice Marie André
1861 Living at The Hazells Mansion, Sandy, Bedfordshire (age 66 born Guernsey), a retired manufacturer. With his wife Marie (age 26 born Friburg, Duchy of Baden). With nine visitors and thirteen servants. [2]
1866 June 7th. Died at his residence 84 Westbourne Terrace, Hyde Park, London aged 73. [3]
1867 November 7th. His widow Marie married to Richard Temple Rennie, a Barrister. [4]
