1939 Residing at 38 Hesreth Road, Southport: - Thomas Atherton (born 1899), Director Engineering Co; Margaret Atherton (born 1898); Thomas G. F. Atherton (born 1929); Eric Atherton (born 1931).[3]

By 1941 was working at Dorman and Smith of Salford, when they gained the first of several patents together.
