1921 The refinery was opened by London and Thames Haven Oil Wharves Ltd
1929 "London and Thames Haven Oil Wharves Ltd. — on the scientific as well as the administrative side is the proud record of that versatile Anglo-Russian Mr. N. A. Anfilogoff, manager of the company and manager of the refinery."[1]
1952 London and Thames Haven Oil Wharves Ltd reported "considerable expansion of oil refinery and storage activities on the north bank of the Thames estuary[2]
1956 "Tank Ablaze at Oil Refinery: Twenty-four appliances were sent to fight a fire in a storage tank containing 600,000 gallons of spirit at the Thames Haven Refinery of Shell Refining and Marketing Ltd. near Stanford-le-Hope ..."[3]. "A spokesman said later that the tank involved was one on the ... Thames Haven Refinery, and held 2000 tons, or 600,000 gallons, of ... lene Petroleum product prod... the Shell Haven Refinery."[4]
