Makers of Swinborne's Gelatine, no longer in use, but well known in its time.

  • 1822 George Swinborne born in Coggeshall, Essex.
  • 1847 While living in Pimlico, Swinborne was granted a patent for the production of gelationous substances.
  • 1848 Returned to Coggeshall, took a partner into the business (Richard Archer Wallington) and began the commercial production of gelatine and isinglass. The company became Swinborne, Wallington and Co.
  • 1878 Company granted a trademark for Swinborne's Patent Gelatine and Isinglass.
  • 1883 George Swinborne died.
  • 1999 Factory finally stopped producing isinglass (a pure form of gelatine).
