Staffordshire Public Chain and Anchor Testing Co

1864 The Chain Cable and Anchor Testing Act stimulated a demand for testing and then for more rigorous methods and equipment.

1866 Chain cables and anchors' proving establishment.

1867 The Staffordshire Public Chain and Anchor Testing Co was composed of a number of the Staffordshire chain makers, under the chairmanship of Mr. Caleb Bloomer. It had 2 establishments:

• One at Bloomfield, Tipton
• The other at Netherton.

These provided facilities very similar to those established at the proving house of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board some years before.

1881 Presumably it became Lloyds Staffordshire Proving House Co when that company was incorporated.
