1853 'Description of a New Agricultural Wheat Separator and Cleaning Machine.— This wheat cleaning machine has been introduced by Messrs. Spiller and Taylor, Battersea, London, and possesses considerable novelty of arrangement, worthy of notice. .....' [1]

1855 Advert: 'TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, Messrs. CRUSO and SON, On Tuesday, the 24th day of July, 1855, At One o'clock precisely, At the Brick Yard in the occupation of Mr. J. Sheppard, near South Gates, King's Lynn, (The purchase of the 5th June last not having been completed according to conditions,) A Six-Horse-Power High Pressure STEAM ENGINE, by Spiller and Taylor. The above is a first-class Engine, has been worked only twelve months, and is worthy the attention of any person requiring steam power. It is also a adapted for either a stationary or portable engine.
The Engine may seen upon application to Mr. Sheppard, and will be working on the Morning of Sale from Ten till One o'clock.'[2]
