1799 Smith and Turner was established by John Smith.

1840 S. Gerish and Co was established by F. W. Gerish.

1888 Smith & Turner purchased the goodwill and premises of S. Gerish & Co.

By 1914 Smith & Turner was the oldest house in the trade.

1914 Maker of all kinds of Door Springs, Panic Bolts, Gate Hinges, Fanlight Openers and Gear, &c.
