1856 A Highland Agricultural Society Show commendendation was awarded to Smith Brothers & Co., Glasgow, for a steam engine[1]
"Kingston Engine Works were built for Smith Bros, Engineers & Ironfounders, founded 1866. The building is classical red and yellow brick, round-headed windows, large elliptical door, cylindrical iron columns, open brick arcade to erecting shop, travelling crane."[2]
1870 Constructed a new type of governor designed by James Weir
1890s Had supplied powerful rolling machine to J. I. Thornycroft and Co for bending boiler shells[3]
1900 of Kingston Engine Works.
1925 Supplied large planing machine to Dorman Long
