1861 Alderman Besley, of Robert Besley and Co, retired which left a gap in the type-founding industry; to fill the gap, his friend Charles Reed set up business in Fann Street (presumably Reed and Fox).

1877 The business became Sir Charles Reed and Sons

1894 Incorporated as a limited company

1905 Merger with Stephenson, Blake and Co as Stephenson, Blake and Co and Sir Charles Reed and Sons

1914 Name changed to Stephenson, Blake and Co
