Sidney William Jelley was born in 1902, and received his technical education at Battersea Polytechnic, where he took his engineering, degree and also obtained the Diploma of the Polytechnic.
He received his shop training with Robert Adams and Co, and was subsequently draughtsman with Gwynnes, Hammersmith.
After a period as designer-draughtsman with the late J. G. P. Thomas, he was appointed draughtsman and subsequently Chief Experimental and Research Engineer with T. B. Andre and Co.
He died on 21st February, 1940, at the age of 37.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1929.
