1870 Exhibited ether-based refrigerators at the 1870 Royal Agricultural Show (Oxford).[1]
1886 Siddeley and Co was formed to purchase the business, property, and liabilities of Messrs. Joshua and John Siddeley, of Upper William-street, Liverpool. Powers were taken to acquire and work English letters patent, granted for improvements in apparatus or machinery for refrigerating or cooling purposes.[2]
1887 'LIVERPOOL BANKRUPTCY COURT.....The debtors were Joshua and John Siddeley, brothers, trading under the style of Siddeley and Co., at Upper William-street, Liverpool, and also at Newlyn and Gulvat, near Penzance, as brassfounders and engineers, and also as manufacturers of ice and ice-making machines. The statement of affairs showed gross liabilities of £31,806....'[3]
The 1890 O.S. map[4] shows an Engineering Works on the south side of Upper William Street, bounded on the right by a railway viaduct, and to the south and west by houses (on Whitley Street and Great Howard Street)
