1875 Messrs. Scott Brothers' Wire and Hemp Rope Works, West Gorton, Manchester.

1875 Exhibition at the Pomona Gardens (Manchester): 'Stand 84, that of Scott Brothers, Knutsford Vale Works, West Gorton, Manchester, has a very fine display of wire and other ropes, some of them being specially adapted for mining purposes. We may say that so far as colliery steel ropes are concerned the firm have a character not only at home but abroad as well, second to none in the kingdom, and the fine samples exhibited cannot fail to enhance their reputation, if such is possible. Messrs. Scott are makers of brattice cloth, some specimens of which shown to us left nothing to be desired in that essential article for mining purposes; and the same may also be said with respect to the Patent Steel Galvanized Capstan Ropes, a speciality for which the Gorton firm has a high and deserved name.'[1]

1880 Partnership dissolved: 'Scott Brothers, wire drawers, galvanizers, rope makers and manufacturers, Nutsford Vale Wire Rope Works, West Gorton, near Manchester, and at Liverpool and Glasgow.'[2]
