1840 Advert: 'BANKRUPTS’ EFFECTS EXEMPT FROM DUTY. To Iron Founders, Millwrights, Engineers, and others. Valuable Stock in Trade, Machinery, Patterns, Tools and Utensils. WITHOUT RESERVE, TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, by Mr. Lomax, (By order of the Assignees of the Estate of Samuel and James Monks.) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, the 5th, 6th, and 7th, of August, 1840, at the Foundry situate near Lever-street, Rose Hill, in Great Bolton ; THE whole of the Valuable STOCK-IN-TRADE, Machinery, Utensils, comprising Moulding Boxes, Cast and Wrought Core Barrels, three Ceane Ladles, double shanks; Anvils, Bellows, Sets, Punches, Suages, Mandrols, Hammers, and Heading Tools; Wood and Iron Cranes, Stocks with Taps and Dies, one 12 inch Slide Lathe, one 18 inch, and six smaller Lathes, one secondhand four-horse Condensing Engine, one Planing Machine, (by Roberts), Boiler Makers’ Blocks, and other Tools; sets of Engine Patterns varying from two to sixty horses power; ....... One large Punching and Engine, now standing at Great Bridge, in Little Bolton, will be sold at two o’clock on Thursday precisely.'
