1889 Built and engineered by Laird Brothers for the Hamburg-Amerika Line.[1]

1902 A twin-screw steamer 500ft. in length and about 8400 tons gross, built by D. and W. Henderson for the Atlantic passenger service of the Anchor Line. She was the largest steamer yet constructed for the Anchor Line, and the pioneer twin-screw vessel of the fleet; also the largest ever produced by her builders.[2]
