SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems
1990s: Under the Eurosystems agreement, Finmeccanica acquired several British assets in the avionics, military and secure communications and air traffic control sectors.
2005 Finmeccanica SpA and BAE Systems merged BAE Systems Avionics Ltd. with Galileo Avionica SpA to form a new avionics business, SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems Ltd, majority owned by Finmeccanica [1]
The UK operations of Alenia Marconi Systems became SELEX Systems Integration. SELEX Communications was founded to work on military communications. The largest part of the UK assets became Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems.
The SELEX family became:
- SELEX Communications (military and secure communications)
- SELEX Galileo (avionics and electro-optics)
- SELEX Sistemi Integrati (command and control and air traffic management)
2009 SELEX acquired space and cyber consulting company VEGA Group PLC. Its UK Space business merged with Telespazio UK to create Telespazio VEGA UK
2011 SELEX Communications Holdings was renamed Selex Elsag Holdings Ltd
2011 SELEX Sistemi Integrati (SELEX Systems Integration) created VEGA Consulting Services and begins cyber activities in Bristol
2013 Selex ES was founded as a global electronic defence suppliers, combining all the Italian and British "Selex" entities into a single company responsible for the group's Defence and Security Electronics. This move created a worldwide leader with domestic markets in both Italy and the UK, as well as a strong international presence.
