Samuel Cooper, a member of Cooper, Field and Hood, was said to have founded the Leeds Iron Works[1]

1859 Dissolution of the Partnership between Henry Hood and Samuel Thomas Cooper, as Iron Manufacturers, at Leeds Iron Works, in the county of York, under, the style or firm of Hood and Cooper. All debts due to and owing from the said late firm, will be received and paid by the said Samuel Thomas Cooper, and by Mr. John Arthur Cooper, by whom the said business will in future be carried on, under the style or firm of S. T. Cooper and Co[2]
