Rosefield Mills, Dumfries

From Graces Guide

of Troqueer Road, Dumfries.

Part of the derelict former Rosefield Mills buildings, listed Category B, with an imposing Venetian palazzo frontage to the River Nith, have been acquired by the Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust. This part of the mills was completed in 1886 to the design of Alan Burgess Crombie (1845-1904). The mills were designed and built for Charteries, Spence and Co, manufacturers of Scottish tweeds and worsted fabrics.[1]

The buildings extended well beyond the impressive river frontage. See aerial photograph here.

The mills are located a short distance along the River Nith from Dumfries Suspension Bridge.
