ROGER CROMWELL PRITCHARD was chief assistant draughtsman for several years to the India Rubber, Gutta Percha and Telegraph Works Company, Ltd., of Silvertown, London.
He was born in 1875 and was educated at the Merchant Taylors' School and Epsom College. In 1894 he entered Messrs. Fielding and Platt's works at Gloucester, where he served a three years' apprenticeship. He then became a draughtsman to Messrs. Bryan, Corcoran, Ltd. and two years later he joined the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company, Ltd., in a similar capacity. He was subsequently employed as a draughtsman by Messrs. Humphreys and Glasgow, of Westminster, and by the Underfeed Stoker Company, Ltd.
In 1901 he became interested in the design of industrial electrical equipment, and joined Messrs. Callendar's Cable and Construction Company as second draughtsman in the plant department. Four years later he took up his appointment at Silvertown, which he held until his retirement in 1921.
Since 1905 he had lived at Highbury, where his death occurred on 18th March 1938. He was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1899 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1901.
