ROBERT YOUNGER, who was 79 years of age at the time of his death on 17th March 1931, was born at Warkworth, Northumberland, and educated at Morpeth.

He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. R. and W. Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Newcastle-on- Tyne, at their Forth Banks Works, and was subsequently transferred to their St. Peter's Works, where in 1887 he was appointed works manager. Mr. Younger was connected with his firm for the whole of his career until his retirement in 1907.

He had been a Member of the Institution since 1881.
