1912 Obituary [1]

ROBERT SYKES of Stalybridge died in February 1912, at the age of eighty-three.

He was born at Milnsbridge, in Yorkshire, which place he left for Stockport over fifty years ago, commencing business there as an ironmonger with his brother, Mr. Ellis Sykes.

Subsequently he went to Stalybridge, where he commenced business on his own account under the name of R. Sykes & Sons, Limited.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1881.
